Sanbolic Announces Quality of Service for Adobe Users
HD Shared SAN Solution with Guaranteed Bandwidth to Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 Users

Las Vegas, NV April 23, 2006 – Sanbolic, Inc., a leading developer of software to simplify and share SAN storage, today announced the release of the Quality of Service (QoS) component in Melio FS shared file system. QoS allow the users to allocate bandwidth dynamically to specific workstations in a workgroup environment.

Melio FS enables shared access to content files on SANs built using industry standard hardware in post production facilities. Shared access to content files on the SAN improves the work flow process by allowing content to be digitized centrally and eliminating the need to move very large video files among workstations. It also reduces the time to get programming on the air by allowing multiple editors to access content files for a project simultaneously, and simplifies versioning control. Sanbolic’s volume manager LaScala allows the performance of several storage arrays to be combined into a single shared pool that will support the bandwidth needed by uncompressed HD video or 2k film intermediate production. It also provides volume access to be assigned
centrally.

"Sanbolic's Melio FS and LaScala volume manager make it possible for all our editors to have simultaneous access to the files on the common storage. LaScala lets us centrally manage and flexibly expand the system when we are ready without having to interrupt our work."

The Quality of Service component has been developed to fulfill requirements of customers in the broadcast and post production markets. The feature was added to provision shared storage centrally while guaranteeing bandwidth to and from certain workstations during editing and broadcast. The HD SAN solution can be seen at IBM’s booth #SU2976.
