Sanbolic And High Velocity Systems Announce Interoperability

High Velocity Systems Provides SAN Infrastructure that Utilizes Kayo Volume Sharing Software

Watertown, MA, November 6, 2001 - Sanbolic, Inc. a developer of storage area network (SAN) software that provides volume sharing for enhanced intraSAN communication, announced today support for High Velocity System's Bullet 600 fibre channel hub for its volume sharing software Kayo. Following extensive testing in Sanbolic's interoperability lab, the solution is now certified by both companies.

Kayo is a transparent SAN solution using NTFS, which allows SAN users to read and write to the shared volumes on the centralized storage. The data is transferred from the storage to the server or client workstation over the Fibre Channel network while only command and control communication is transferred over TCP/IP, over either Fibre Channel or Ethernet. The automatic refresh functionality updates all Kayo users when a change is made to a volume.

The Bullet 600 fibre channel hub is the most affordable fibre channel solution available today. The simple "black-box" product has established itself as the only set-and-forget hub available to build simple, or build-out complex SAN solutions.

Charles Palanzo, Director of Product Development for High Velocity Systems notes that "Sanbolic has again raised the bar for other volume sharing software providers with this new release of Kayo. The new easy-to-use interface, multi-volume support, and simple configuration options complement the ease with which the hardware infrastructure can be built using our hubs."

"We are pleased to be working with High Velocity Systems to offer their customers a cost effective volume sharing software alternative for SANs. Offering customers a pre-tested SAN solution is very important to both companies; it provides our customer the highest level of confidence in their SAN," says Chris Hurley, VP of Sales & Marketing at Sanbolic, Inc., "Kayo and the Bullet 600 combine to provide a powerful solution for web servers and clusters, digital video and audio editing, and a myriad of other applications".
