Sanbolic File System in High Performance SAN Demonstrated by IBM at NAB
Open SAN Solution for Demanding Applications such as IPTV, HD Video Production and Streaming Media and Archiving

Las Vegas, NV April 22, 2006 – Sanbolic, Inc., a leading developer of software to simplify and share SAN storage, today announce that their clustered file system Melio FS and LaScala volume manager will be demonstrated in a shared SAN built for HD video production and streaming media at IBM’s booth at NAB. Sanbolic and IBM are showing multiple streams of Uncompressed High Definition format video being captured live on the show floor and played out in a mixed production environment consisting of Adobe Premiere Pro on Matrox and Black Magic video cards, as well as Harris Corporation- Velocity HD.

The solution shown at NAB at the LasVegas Convention Center at IBM booth #SU7629 is based on an IBM 4800 storage system, Qlogic HBAs, and Sanbolic software Melio FS and LaScala. The demonstrated performance is over one gigabyte per second to the storage.

In a streaming media environment, such as IPTV, Sanbolic customers can benefit from having multiple Windows servers digitizing and streaming from a common content library without replicating the data. As the content library grows, additional storage arrays can be added to the shared content library without taking the system offline.

In workgroup environments, the shared SAN solution allows multiple editors to work on a project simultaneously. Render farms can be connected to the SAN and content can be digitized centrally, which eliminates the need to move very large video files among workstations and reduces the time to get programming on the air. All media content can be managed over its life cycle as an integrated process. Content can be digitized, edited, enhanced with graphics and effects, broadcast, archived, and reused for new programming as digital files.

Sanbolic software currently supports Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, Windows XP and Microsoft Windows Server 2003, including Windows Server 2003 R2. Sanbolic distributes its product solutions worldwide through a network of distributors, OEMs, VARs and system integrators.
