Sanbolic's Melio FS Shown
at CeBIT 2003 by LSI Logic
Creative and interesting demo of
Melio FS at LSI Logic's booth prove product understanding and promotes
partnership.
Watertown, Mass., March 12, 2003
- Sanbolic, Inc., developer and manufacturer
of Melio file system software and Kayo 3.0 for shared storage solutions,
announces that LSI Logic is showing Melio FS as part of product
demonstration at CeBIT 2003 in Hanover this week. The strategic
relationship between the two companies, and the product certification
process, has led to a mutually beneficial relationship in promotion
and sales of LSI host bus adapters (HBAs) and Sanbolic software.
The alliance has proven a framework for SAN interoperability, performance
and scalability enhancements for several applications in clustered
environments.
Melio FS has been designed for high performance,
unlimited scalability, simple data management, and heterogeneous
operating system support. The shared storage is formatted with Melio
FS and presents a single storage pool across all servers attached
to it, simplifying access to and administration of data and storage,
and improving computing resource flexibility and scalability of
applications. Easy to install and use, Melio FS addresses customer
needs in workgroup environments, as well as enterprise data center
and cluster or grid computing applications. The file system architecture
supports both Windows and Unix requirements and is now commercially
available with Windows drivers.
The demo at CeBIT shows the seamless integration
of Sanbolic's Melio FS and the Fusion-MPT™ (Message Passing
Technology) based LSI Logic 2 Gb/s, dual-channel LSI44929O Fibre
Channel HBA. The application is media-rich and together LSI Logic
and Sanbolic show that they provide the performance and scalability
required to deliver as much as 360MB/s of sustained read and write
throughput per system in a cluster.
"We are pleased to have a partner like LSI
Logic showing Melio FS at CeBIT. It confirms that they have the
knowledge about and appreciation for complementary software, and
that they are active in promoting solutions as opposed to "just"
hardware, which is what we believe what customers are looking for
today", says Eva Helén, VP of Business Development at
Sanbolic, Inc.
"The LSI Logic 2 Gb/s dual-channel LSI44929O
HBA provides a new level of reliability, speed and distance in interconnect
technology," said Charlie Kraus, director for LSI Logic HBA
Marketing. "Demonstrating it with Sanbolic's file system Melio
FS, and media-rich application, gives our customers the assurance
that our HBAs are ideal for high-performance, data intensive SAN
applications."
