Sanbolic Announces Support for Emulex
Host Bus Adapters
Emulex HBA Provides Connectivity
in SANs that Utilize Kayo Volume Sharing Software
Watertown, MA, April 10, 2001 -
Sanbolic, Inc. a developer of storage area network (SAN) software
that provides volume sharing for enhanced intraSAN communication,
announced today support for Emulex Corporation's Light Pulse family
of Fibre Channel host bus adapters (HBAs) for its volume sharing
software Kayo. Sanbolic also confirms that the Emulex Fibre Channel
HBAs, including the market-leading LP8000 and 2Gb/s LP9002, are
fully compatible with and support Kayo.
Kayo is a transparent SAN solution using NTFS,
which allows SAN users to read and write to the shared volumes on
the centralized storage. The data is transferred from the storage
to the server or client workstation over the Fibre Channel network
while only command and control communication is transferred over
TCP/IP, over either Fibre Channel or Ethernet. The automatic refresh
functionality updates all Kayo users when a change is made to a
volume. The Emulex family of LightPulse HBAs have been added to
the list of certified HBAs within the software. Following extensive
testing in Sanbolic's interoperability lab, the solution has been
implemented at customer site.
"As the world's leading supplier of storage
networking host bus adapters, we are pleased Sanbolic has taken
the lead to certify our market-leading family of Fibre Channel host
bus adapters for use with its volume sharing software," said
Mike Smith, executive vice president of Worldwide Marketing at Emulex.
"Sanbolic's volume sharing software combined with Emulex HBAs
provide end users with a robust, interoperable solution for managing
a storage network."
"We are pleased to work with Emulex and be
able to offer their customers a cost effective volume sharing software
alternative for SANs. Kayo's features, along with the Emulex HBA,
make an ideal solution for SANs used in video on demand, eCommerce
and telecommunication servers. The combination has proven to be
successful at customer site, and is sure to bring new accounts in
the expanding SAN market," says Eva Helén, Director
of Business Development at Sanbolic, Inc.
