Sanbolic to Demonstrate Industry’s First 4Gb/s Shared SAN Solution with Engenio Technology
High Performance Shared SAN Solution Targeting High Definition Video and Film Applications

Las Vegas, NV - April 17, 2005 – Sanbolic, Inc., a developer of an advanced clustered file system and disk management software for networked storage, today announced that the company is demonstrating a 4Gb/s High Definition (HD) SAN solution with Engenio’s first to market 4Gb/s Fibre Channel technology at the National Association of Broadcasters Convention in Las Vegas, April 17-22, 2005, in booth #SL 3967.

The new 6998 4Gb/s Fibre Channel storage solution from Engenio, providing 3,200 MB/s of host-side bandwidth, will be shown together with Sanbolic’s clustered file system Melio FS and volume manager LaScala. The joint solution creates an ideal platform for high bandwidth multi layer HD video, 2K and 4K film applications.

Melio FS allows concurrent access to shared content files on the 6998 from multiple stations for the most demanding uncompressed post production applications. LaScala can be striped across multiple 4 Gb/s controllers to provide unprecedented speeds in shared SAN environments.

Sanbolic, Inc. and Engenio have extensive experience in working together on HD SAN solutions, and the new solution builds on previous successful installations. The solution shown at NAB is a complete workflow using third party partner Cisco’s 9216i multi-protocol switch facilitating online editing through high speed multi layer Fibre Channel connectivity and simultaneous connectivity and access through iSCSI to a render farm. ISCSI provides cost effective connectivity to a large number of servers in the render farm, which processes video effects and transitions.

“Engenio has the first 4 Gb/s per second storage controller, and that will allow us to provide our customers with high performance storage platforms to meet even the most demanding multi-layer HD video applications and 2K film applications” said Momchil Michailov, CEO of Sanbolic, Inc. “In conjunction with our Melio FS and LaScala Volume Manager, highly scalable shared SANs allowing concurrent access from multiple workstations can be integrated using Engenio’s new 6998 controller.”

“The HD video and film industry requires the highest bandwidth available for post production and streaming solutions,” said Julie Ryan, Manager of Alliances at Engenio. “Combining Sanbolic’s Melio File System with the performance of Engenio’s next generation 4 Gb/s Fibre Channel array is ideal for meeting the requirements for shared storage solutions for these customers.”
