Inscriber and Sanbolic Develop SAN Solution for E-Clips
New Technology Allows Stable Video File Sharing

Waterloo, ON, December 10, 2003 - Inscriber, a leading provider of broadcast solutions, and Sanbolic Inc, developer of advanced software products and file system for SAN/NAS solutions, announced today that Inscriber’s E-Clips is now certified for use with Sanbolic Melio File System.

E-Clips is a powerful video scheduler that allows operators to edit play lists while on-line. E-Clips can manage the ingest, play out and pass through of multiple video sources, live video feeds, full screen graphics, into a seamless unified broadcast output. Play out can be scheduled manually, with time code, a time of day clock or GPI triggers.

Inscriber and Sanbolic have certified a storage area network for E-Clips using Melio FS, Sanbolic’s SAN file system, Adaptec’s SANbloc storage and Qlogic host bus adapters. Melio FS is a scalable file system that allows workstations to be added to a SAN, with the ability to add extra storage as needed. The file systems’ journaling functionality provides reliable tracking of all operations.

Melio FS allows multiple E-Clips systems to be integrated together. Melio FS’ locking mechanism allows multiple E-Clips systems to simultaneously access the same file on the shared, centralized video storage. The fail-safe feature provides seamless, stable and consistent play out.

“This partnership has allowed Inscriber and Sanbolic to develop dynamic integration capabilities for E-Clips,” says Adam Medri, Product Manager at Inscriber. “In particular, the seamless file sharing function is exciting, as it will increase broadcaster’s workflow.”

“Inscriber’s technology is well suited for multiple system environments, and the shared storage platform fits Melio FS’ underlying file structure perfectly”, says Eva Helén, Vice President of Business Development for Sanbolic Inc. “We are pleased with the result, which is straightforward, yet offers powerful functionality.”
