Sanbolic Announces Kayo v. 1.5 at
SAN 2001
Additions to Kayo make it ideal for
Enterprise SANs.
San Jose, CA, June 5, 2001 - Sanbolic,
a developer of software and solutions for storage area networks,
announces Kayo version 1.5 at SAN 2001 in San Jose California. The
first version of Kayo, Volume Sharing Software for SANs, which has
been shipping since October 2000, has been enhanced and its new
features make it an ideal software for enterprise SAN solutions.
Sanbolic will be showing the new version of the product at booth
#220.
Kayo uses the high-speed protocol, Fibre Channel,
for data transfer and TCP/IP over Fibre or Ethernet for command
and control only. The automatic refresh (ARF) updates all Kayo users
when a change is made to a volume. Kayo is a native NTFS solution
that allows high-speed transfers, typical for the SAN, to take place
without risk of data corruption. Version 1.5 supports cluster services
and has a masking utility for optimized storage management. It allows
automatic transfer of write privileges and point-to-point server-less
backup.
The software is completely transparent to the
user. The users see the volumes on the SAN as their local disks
and work with them in exactly the same way as with local storage.
Kayo supports software RAID 0 (striping) as well as single NTFS
partitions, and is available for Windows 2000. In addition to providing
information on local and managed volumes, volume owner, and volume
properties, version 1.5 has disk properties included in the interface
and has enhanced icons for writer and reader under "My Computer".
It shows the ownership duration and a log of ownership requests.
The product is expected to start shipping during
the third quarter of 2001 and will be sold through a channel of
SAN integrators and OEM accounts.
