Sanbolic Announces Kayo 2.0 - Enhanced Volume Sharing Software for SANs
Volume Sharing for Enhanced IntraSAN Communication.

Watertown, MA, September 4, 2001 - Sanbolic, Inc. today announced the release of Kayo 2.0, volume sharing software for storage area networks (SANs). In the continuing evolution of Kayo, Kayo 2.0 has been redesigned to enhance the user experience and automate many functions that required user intervention in previous versions of Kayo.

The new features for Kayo 2.0 include an easier to use interface and full integration with the Windows shell. The automatic refresh functionality has been updated, and acquiring and relinquishing of write access to a volume has also been made automatic to minimize user interaction. Configuration is performed through a control panel applet and tuning Kayo's TCP/IP settings has been given greater flexibility. Data corruption can be prevented through Kayo's network breakdown resolution.

Like previous versions of the software, Kayo 2.0 allows multiple SAN users to access and share the volumes on the centralized storage. It is a NTFS solution that allows high-speed transfers to take place over Fibre Channel. Only one user at a time is allowed to write to a volume, which eliminates any risk of data corruption. Kayo 2.0 complements SAN management tools available on the market today by providing users with volume sharing capabilities. The automatic refresh functionality (ARF) gives all users continuous access to the most up-to-date information on the shared storage. Kayo 2.0 increases the security in the SAN because there is no single point of failure. The software facilitates the work for the user because the shared volumes appear as local drives on each desktop and because the drives can be mapped to other stations connected over the Ethernet.

Kayo 2.0 is available for Windows 2000, and it supports RAID 0, 1, 3, 5, and JBOD.

The pricing for Sanbolic's Kayo 2.0 is $1,990 per copy/seat. Kayo 2.0 will be available from a network of authorized resellers.
