Sanbolic Announces Kayo v.
3.0 at IBC 2002, Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Support for Windows XP and Centralized
Management Added
Amsterdam, the Netherlands September
13, 2002 - Sanbolic, a developer of
software and solutions for storage area networks (SANs), today announces
Kayo version 3.0. Kayo is a volume sharing software for Windows
based applications used in workgroup SANs.
The product is being installed in broadcast, post
production and pre press environments between the operating system
and the editing and graphic tools, and in government and educational
facilities as a base for streaming media applications.
Kayo uses a point-to-point technology where each
server has a direct access to the data on the storage and no metadata
controller is necessary, eliminating the risk of a single point
of failure. The disk drives on the centralized storage appear as
local disk drives on the servers connected to the storage and to
the workstations connected via Ethernet to these servers. As Kayo
is incorporated into Windows Explorer no additional training is
required.
The new features of Kayo 3.0 include centralized
management, which enables the user to configure all Kayo stations
from a single machine reducing the installation time, and an improved
interface, making the installation even easier. The refresh functionality
now has the option of automatic or scheduled accommodating diverse
technologies.
Kayo 3.0 will support Windows XP operating system
as well as support IEEE 1394 (fire wire) and iSCSI networks, expanding
the storage network options for the customer.
The product is expected to start shipping during
the fourth quarter of 2002 and will be sold through a channel of
SAN integrators, VARs, VADs, and OEM accounts worldwide.
