Sanbolic Releases Kayo v
3.0
New Features and Technology Include
iSCSI Support
Watertown, Mass., January 17, 2003
- Sanbolic, Inc. developer and manufacturer
of software and file system for shared storage solutions, today
announced the release of Kayo 3.0. Kayo is Sanbolic's volume sharing
software for workgroup size shared storage environments. In the
continuing evolution of Kayo, the features are enhanced and Kayo
3.0 expand the storage network options for users, providing an easy
to use solution with a new interface and management tools. Kayo
gives all users have equal rights to access the data on the shared
storage, using volume locks to regulate who has write and read access.
The new features of Kayo 3.0 include a centralized
management control panel, which enables the user to configure all
Kayo stations from a single machine reducing the installation time.
The new interface includes management tools to simplify the configuration
of Kayo. Kayo now supports Window XP operating system, and added
network protocol support includes iSCSI and IEEE 1394 (fire wire).
The user is given more control over the refresh functionality, which
provides users with up-to-date information, as there is now an option
of automatic or scheduled refresh.
"By including iSCSI support Kayo is no longer
limited to pure fibre channel environments. We believe that this
will bring the product into alternative markets such as medical
imaging where direct attached storage traditionally has been the
way to store data, and sharing data has not been an option,"
says Eva Helén, VP of Business Development at Sanbolic.
The product is being used in high availability
SANs, backup environments, and now fibre channel to iSCSI solutions
where FC and iSCSI attached workstations shared the same storage
and can access the same data. Large file applications such as imaging,
pre press, audio and video applications benefit from the fact that
replication becomes redundant, and in streaming video solutions
and VOD where the SAN can be extended with a LAN.
"We are very excited about the data sharing
solution that is created when Kayo 3.0 is implemented over iSCSI
using the Cisco Storage Router 5428", said Mark Cree, General
Manager, Cisco Storage Router Business Unit. "iSCSI provides
customers with a cost effective method to access their data over
the network, and with Kayo 3.0 that access is greatly improved."
Availability
Kayo 3.0 is available for Windows 2000 and Windows XP. It is resold
