Sanbolic’s products have been designed to enable customers to easily manage SAN storage as a single pool of data that can be accessed by multiple servers concurrently. This greatly reduces storage complexity and gives users much more flexibility in how they can access their data. The design point for these products was a large telecom network operation center application running multiple operating systems. The product architecture has been designed to support multiple operating systems and storage hardware platforms in a very large environment demanding very high reliability. Sanbolic software for Windows Server 2003 R2, 2008, and Windows 2008 R2 platforms are available today. Even with their extensive capabilities, our products are exceptionally easy to install and use. They can be used with any industry standard iSCSI or Fibre Channel storage. Sanbolic has expanded its product portfolio to include features for centrally configuring and managing logical storage volumes, managing quality or service, and providing flexible data backup options. In addition, Sanbolic recently introduced new products that leverage the active-active storage access enabled by the clustered file system in providing application-level failover or load balancing clustering (AppCluster), as well as centralized configuration of shared-data file serving clusters (FilerScaler). Shared access to data enables high availability, horizontal scaling of applications, clustered processing, and greatly simplified storage provisioning and management. Embedded reporting on storage I/O and transaction performance facilitates optimization of storage intensive workloads. Melio includes distributed snapshot capability that allows snapshots to be created from any server in the storage cluster. The file system also incorporates quality of service assignment to allow prioritization of specific workloads in storage bandwidth-constrained environments. LaScala Volume Manager Software LaScala is a shared clustered volume manager that allows multiple storage arrays to be aggregated into a single data pool, and centrally manages the configuration and assignment of logical volumes. All servers can see the entire storage environment. Windows Active Directory and volume-level ACLs are supported, so assignment of host access to specific shared volumes is easily accomplished with native security tools. LaScala now supports dynamic volume expansion and RAID 1. In conjunction with Melio FS, LaScala provides very high performance shared access to files on volumes striped across large numbers of disks on multiple controllers. SILM is a standalone software product that automatically moves or copies files or volumes based on customer defined policies. As an example, an administrator could establish policies to copy any files created or modified in the past 4 hours to a backup volume, and to move any files not accessed in 30 days to secondary storage. SILM has universal connectivity support, allowing users to deploy it in mixed storage environments utilizing DAS, NAS, and SAN storage. It can invoke an industry standard VSS provider, and copy data from the snapshot. Policies can be created using the intuitive interface or using SILM's scripting capability. SILM supports both Microsoft and Sanbolic file systems. AppCluster is a solution for managing active-active clusters of SQL Servers, virtual machines and other resources in conjunction with Sanbolic's clustered file system, Melio FS. This new product provides ease of management, high availability, very fast failover, and load balancing of multiple physical or virtual SQL servers accessing a single SAN LUN containing multiple databases, while removing the complexity and the need for expensive unutilized hardware associated with typical clustering tools. FilerScaler is a management solution for scale-out Windows file serving shared-data clusters. The new management tool automates much of the configuration of clusters of multiple Windows file servers presenting a single file system on SAN storage to the network, in conjunction with Melio clustered file system and LaScala volume manager. The product can also be used for a management platform to provision and configure multiple Windows servers used for network shares using NTFS. |
