Sanbolic releases Volume Sharing
Software for SAN
Volume Sharing for Enhanced IntraSAN
Communication.
Watertown, MA, October 20, 2000
- Sanbolic, Inc. today announced the
release of Kayo, volume sharing software for storage area networks
(SANs). Kayo allows multiple SAN users to access and share the volumes
on the centralized storage. Kayo is a native new technology file
system (NTFS) solution that allows high-speed transfers to take
place over Fibre Channel. Only one person at a time is allowed to
write to a volume, which eliminates any risk of data corruption.
Kayo complements SAN management tools available
on the market today by providing users with volume sharing capabilities.
These capabilities enhance intraSAN communication between the users
on the network. The automatic refresh functionality (ARF) gives
all users continuous access to the most up-to-date information on
the shared storage. Kayo increases the security in the SAN because
there is no single point of failure. The software facilitates the
work for the user because the shared volumes appear as local drives
on each desktop and because the drives can be mapped to other stations
connected over the Ethernet.
Sanbolic's intention is to bring volume sharing
to more SAN users by providing a solid and affordable product and
by introducing volume sharing to new vertical markets such as telecommunications
and electronic commerce companies.
Kayo supports 2000 software RAID 0 (striping)
as well as single NTFS partitions and hardware RAID 1,3, and 5.
Kayo is available for Windows 2000. Support for other operating
systems will follow.
