Sanbolic, Inc. Selected by James
W. Sewall Company to Provide Clustered File System for SAN/NAS Storage
Solution
Watertown, MA – April 5, 2005
- Sanbolic, Inc. has been selected by James
W. Sewall Company, a leading provider in the GIS (Geographic Information
System) services industry, to provide Melio FS, Sanbolic’s
advanced clustered file system, to integrate their enterprise Storage
Area Network and Network Attached Storage solution.
Melio FS (File System) allows multiple NAS heads
to have concurrent access to one file system on SAN storage. The
system can be scaled modularly by adding servers or storage to the
cluster. The Melio-based NAS solution eliminates the need for replication
or manual file migration, and since any server can handle any file
request, it eliminates the need for passive fail-over servers. This
greatly simplifies the management and reduces the operational cost
of the SAN/NAS solution. Sewall is headquartered in Old Town, Maine,
and is expected to grow their storage to 25 TB storage and add additional
NAS heads by the end of the year.
According to Eva Helen, Vice President of Business
Development at Sanbolic, "Sewall is known in the industry for
high standards of quality. To meet the needs of its customers, the
company needs the most advanced, reliable, and cost-effective technology.
We are proud to have won the business through a detailed and demanding
evaluation process. We are committed to the GIS community and appreciate
the opportunity to work with Sewall, a major GIS service provider."
Sewall CTO Steven Lambert said "Sanbolic's
Melio FS software provides us with the flexibility we need to manage
and deploy our SAN/NAS resources much more effectively in our highly
dynamic production environment. Sanbolic was very responsive in
working with us to ensure compatibility and performance with our
major applications."
