Sanbolic to Simplify SAN
Data Sharing with Adaptec External Storage
Reducing the Cost and Complexity
Associated with High Availability, Windows-Based Storage Solutions
Watertown, Mass., August 6, 2003
– Sanbolic, developer of advanced
software products and solutions to address the infrastructure needs
of the storage area network (SAN) market, today announced the interoperability
of its volume sharing software Kayo and Adaptec’s SANbloc2500,
a highly scalable high-performance RAID storage solution that delivers
the benefits of storage area networks including data consolidation,
centralized management and increased disk utilization. Sanbolic’s
Kayo will allow multiple users of Adaptec SANbloc 2500 to simultaneously
and seamlessly access the shared storage.
Leveraging Sanbolic’s software with the
SANbloc 2500 enables workstations and servers to freely share volumes
with other systems on the SAN. Kayo allows systems connected to
the SAN to transfer write privileges with other systems and servers
that are connected to the same SAN. Kayo is particularly well suited
for a workgroup environment as it provides users the flexibility
to access the files they need without duplicating data for each
system that needs access to the data.
Michael Russell, Software Engineer, at Mathematical
Technologies, Providence, RI, (www.mathtech.com),
a leading supplier of software solutions for film and video post
production and for machine vision in industrial automation, stated
“Kayo makes data sharing a breeze and it has opened up new
business opportunities for us. I also found their technical support
very responsive”.
“Adaptec’s proven, high-performance
SAN offerings make them an ideal combination with Sanbolic’s
software. Compatibility of storage, connectivity, and software is
often a challenge, and we are pleased to recommend high availability
solutions built on their hardware,” said Eva Helén,
vice president of business development at Sanbolic, Inc.
“Adaptec is committed to making storage
area networks easy to deploy and use, reducing total cost of ownership
for customers,” said Michael McNamara, product marketing manager
for Adaptec. “We’re pleased to collaborate with Sanbolic
to bring the benefits of SANs to more customers.”
