Sanbolic Announces Utility Data Center Solutions Using Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 R2
Clustered File System enables Virtual Server 2005 R2 to be rapidly moved from one physical host to another, while the server remains active.

Watertown , MA June 12, 2006 – Sanbolic, Inc., a leading developer of software to simplify and share SAN storage, today announced solutions for Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 R2 using Melio Clustered File System and LaScala Clustered Volume Manager.

Using Sanbolic software, a Virtual Hard Disk file on a SAN can be accessible from multiple host servers, greatly simplifying the process of migrating Virtual Server 2005 R2  across physical machines for availability or load balancing. Customers experience stateful migrations as virtual machines can be rapidly moved from one physical host to another, while the server remains active.

In addition, LaScala volume manager allows centralized assignment of and access to SAN volumes from any virtual machine using standard Windows ACLs and Active Directory. Microsoft Clustering Services is also supported, including n+1 clusters of virtual servers on multiple physical hosts.

“We have continued to focus on supporting all Microsoft server and storage technologies for datacenter applications with our clustered file system and volume manager,” said Momchil Michailov , a founder of Sanbolic. “Virtual Server 2005 R2 is an important tool for consolidating servers and improving hardware utilization. Our clustered file system extends the capability of Virtual Server 2005 R2 installations used in conjunction with SAN storage.”

“We are pleased that Sanbolic has continued to extend its support for Microsoft server and storage Technologies” said Claude Lorenson, group product manager for storage technologies at Microsoft.” Sanbolic's clustered file system provides customers with a very flexible architecture for assigning SAN storage resources across virtual and physical servers in response to dynamic computing needs.”

Sanbolic software currently supports Microsoft Windows Server 2000, Microsoft Windows XP and Microsoft Windows Server 2003, including Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2. Sanbolic distributes its product solutions worldwide through a network of distributors, OEMs, VARs and system integrators.

Sanbolic will show is products at MS Tech Ed 2006 Booth #1116 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, Boston MA, June 11-16.
